There is a statue in India with a profound message etched into it's form — "A Child gives Birth to a Mother". At first glance, it may seem like a paradox. But those that have felt the heartbeat of a mother know this truth intimately: the moment a child is born, so too is the mother — not just in body, but in spirit, purpose and identity.
This Mother's Day, we don't just celebrate the nurturing hands and comforting voices that raised us. We honour the powerful transformation that happens when a woman crosses the threshold into motherhood. She may have existed years before her child, but something sacred awakens when she first holds that tiny life in her arms. In that moment, She becomes someone entirely new—someone stronger, more selfless and filled with love deeper than anything she has ever known.
Motherhood is not a single act — it is a continuous becoming. It's late-night lullabies whispered through fatigue. It is silent sacrifices made without applause. It is learning to let go while always holding on. It is discovering patience, courage and tenderness, often all in the same day.
This journey isn't always perfect, and it isn't always easy. But in the eyes of her child, a mother finds her purpose. She stumbles, she grows and she rises—again and again—fuelled by a love that reshapes her every cell.
So, This Mother's Day, let us not only thank our Mothers for all they've done. Let us recognise all they've become. The evolution, the transformation and the silent heroism that began not just when they gave birth to us but when we gave birth to them.
To All mothers —and all the women becoming—we honour you.
